Welcome to Alnwick.live

Introducing Alnwick.live — your new community hub for Alnwick, Northumberland.

Alnwick.live·

Alnwick is one of those places that manages to be both a proper working market town and a genuine visitor destination -- without losing its identity as either. The castle towers over the rooftops. The cobbled streets are lined with independent shops rather than chain outlets. Hulne Park offers hundreds of acres of free walking just beyond the town walls. And it all sits at the gateway to Northumberland's coast and countryside, with the beaches of Embleton, Dunstanburgh, and Alnmouth within easy reach.

It deserves a dedicated community guide -- and that's what this site is for.

What you'll find here

Alnwick.live is a free community guide for residents and visitors. We're starting with the essentials and building from there:

  • Events -- what's on this week, this weekend, and in the months ahead. Markets, festivals, castle events, family days, and community gatherings.
  • Directory -- a growing guide to local businesses, venues, clubs, and services.
  • Guides and news -- practical guides to life in Alnwick, plus local stories that matter.

The aim is straightforward: one clean, well-maintained site where you can find what's happening in Alnwick without scrolling through social media groups or piecing things together from half a dozen sources.

A town worth writing about

Between Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden, the town draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year -- but there's far more to it than the headline attractions. The independent shops along Bondgate Within and Fenkle Street are worth an afternoon on their own. Barter Books, housed in the old railway station, is one of the largest secondhand bookshops in Britain. And the surrounding countryside -- from Hulne Park's ancient priory ruins to the Cheviot Hills -- is some of the finest in England.

How to get involved

This site is community-driven. If there's an event we should list, a business that deserves a directory entry, a story worth covering, or a mistake to correct -- get in touch. Suggestions are always welcome.
