A packed weekend in Alnwick with five events within a few miles of town, plus three big ones further afield. Sunday is Father's Day, so there is something for everyone.

Mighty Dub Fest 2026

Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June at Alnwick Castle. The most northern VW weekend festival in England returns to the castle grounds with live music, trade stands, family entertainment, and three bars. Whether you are a Volkswagen enthusiast or just fancy a festival atmosphere in a spectacular setting, this is one of Alnwick's best summer weekends.

Alnmouth Arts Festival

From Saturday 20 June across Alnmouth village. Ninety exhibitors in 27 venues across this beautiful coastal village, just four miles east of Alnwick. Paintings, sculpture, ceramics, and more. The festival has been running since 2010 and is free to wander around. A lovely day out, especially if you combine it with a walk along the beach.

60th Anniversary Steam Weekend -- Aln Valley Railway

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June at the Aln Valley Railway, Lionheart Station. Marking 60 years since the final steam-hauled passenger train on the Alnmouth to Alnwick branch line. Steam locomotive Renishaw will haul goods wagons during the day, and a limited number of ticket holders can ride in the directors' coach. The weekend also celebrates diesel locomotive Shirley's 75th birthday. A must for railway enthusiasts and a great Father's Day outing.

Lego Brick Pits -- Father's Day Weekend at Alnwick Castle

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June at Alnwick Castle. Creative brick-building activities for all ages, included with castle admission. A brilliant way to keep younger children entertained while dads enjoy the castle grounds on Father's Day.

The Hoppings 2026

Friday 19 to Sunday 28 June on the Town Moor, Newcastle. Europe's largest travelling fair opens this weekend with over 400 rides, including the new Elevate85 star flyer, a log flume, Feast Street food stalls, and live music. About an hour south of Alnwick, but well worth the journey if you have never been. Runs for ten days, so no rush.

Blyth Live 2026

Saturday 20 June on Blyth Beach. An all-day music festival headlined by D:Ream, running from 11am to 9pm on the beach. About 40 minutes south of Alnwick.

Morris Car Rally -- Beamish Museum

Saturday 20 June at Beamish Museum, Stanley. Classic pre-1939 Morris cars on display at the living museum, plus the Beamish Reliability Run where vintage cars and motorcycles tackle a 150-mile route through Durham and North Yorkshire. Entry is included with Beamish admission. About an hour from Alnwick, but a grand day out for any motor enthusiast -- especially on Father's Day weekend.
