About Hulne Park
Hulne Park is a magnificent 3,000-acre walled enclosure managed by the Northumberland Estates, offering some of the finest walking in the county — and it is completely free to enter. Three waymarked trails (yellow, blue, and red) wind through ancient woodland, open parkland, and along the River Aln, passing the atmospheric ruins of Hulne Priory and the medieval Brizlee Tower. The park is accessed via Ratten Row, off Northumberland Street — head past St Michael's church and follow the track to the gated entrance. Note that dogs and cyclists are not permitted, and the park closes at 4pm daily. A peaceful escape from the bustle of the town centre.
