Lidl

Lidl discount supermarket on South Road near the former railway station, with good-value groceries, fresh bakery and the changing middle-aisle deals.

About Lidl

Lidl on South Road is one of Alnwick's two discount supermarkets, opened in 2009 on land beside the site of the town's former railway station on the southern edge of the town. It offers a focused range of good-value groceries, from fresh produce and meat to chilled, frozen and store-cupboard staples, along with a bakery counter turning out freshly baked bread and pastries through the day. Free parking and a location just off the main road in make it an easy stop for shoppers coming from the town and surrounding area.

As with all Lidl stores, the changing middle aisle is a big part of the appeal, with its rotating selection of non-food bargains, seasonal lines and one-off deals that reward a regular browse. Long opening hours and keen prices make it a strong option for a value-led weekly shop or a top-up, and sitting close to Aldi on South Road it gives Alnwick a genuine choice of discounter alongside the larger Morrisons and Sainsbury's stores.
