About This Event

Drawing on the Heritage Crafts Association's lists of extinct, critically endangered and endangered UK crafts, this exhibition sets objects from the museum's own archives beside new work by local makers, contrasting skills that have disappeared with today's revival of interest in them. Contributing makers include woodcarver Luca Serra, basketmaker and fibre artist Anna Corbett, stone carver Luke Batchelor, hand papermaker Lucy Baxandall of Tidekettle Paper, glass artist Helen Grierson, bowmaker Richard Wilson and Alnwick horn carver Thomas 'Tucker' Thompson, with blacksmithing and manuscripts also represented. Workshops and artisan demonstration days accompany the show, which returns for a second run from 12 to 31 January 2027.
