About Alnwick Academy of Dance

Alnwick Academy of Dance is a long-established dance school founded in 1987 by Carole Moseley and now run by Joanne Burn and Emily Grahamslaw. Based at the Mechanics Institute on Percy Street in Alnwick, it also teaches at St Cuthbert's Church Hall in Amble and Rothbury First School, serving young dancers across this part of Northumberland. The academy aims to provide a warm, friendly and supportive environment in which pupils can build confidence, learn new skills and make friends.

Classes run from age three upwards, Tuesday to Saturday, covering ballet in the RAD syllabus and tap, modern and contemporary in the ISTD syllabus, alongside street dance, with adult ballet, jazz and tap available at the Alnwick branch. Formal RAD and ISTD examinations are offered from around age five, and annual performances at the Alnwick Playhouse are a highlight of the year, together with other performance opportunities. The mix of recognised syllabi, exams and stage work gives pupils a structured route through their dance training.
