About Alnwick Town AFC

Alnwick Town AFC are the town's senior football club, founded in 1879 and known as the Magpies or The Wick after their black-and-white striped shirts. They play their home matches at St James' Park on Weavers Way, a tidy enclosed ground with a capacity of around 2,500 that has been the club's home since 1900. The club spent much of its history in the Northern Alliance, enjoying a golden era of league titles and cup wins through the 1960s and early 1970s, before winning back-to-back Northern Alliance League Cups and promotion to the Northern League.

For the 2026-27 season the Magpies play in Ebac Northern League Division Two, at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid, against clubs from across the North East. St James' Park is a short walk from the centre of Alnwick and a welcoming, affordable place to watch competitive Saturday football, with a clubhouse and a proper community feel. The club also fields a development side and welcomes new players, volunteers and supporters.
