About Carlo's Gelateria

Carlo's Gelateria operates within Carlo's, a long-established fish and chip shop and restaurant at 7-9 Market Street in Alnwick. Carlo's is the town's longest-serving chippy, having traded for close to four decades, and holds the National Federation of Fish Friers Quality Award. The gelateria revives the family's Italian roots: an ancestor ran a gelato business on the west coast of Scotland in the early 1900s, having brought the craft from Barga in Tuscany, and the same traditional methods are used today.

Up to eighteen flavours of homemade Italian artisan gelato are made fresh on the premises each day using locally sourced milk and cream, ranging from pure Italian pistachio and vanilla to white ripple cookie dough, alongside fresh fruit sorbets. The gelato is served from the Market Street premises, where the restaurant offers downstairs seating for a lively atmosphere and a quieter upstairs area.
