Eliot Smith Dance: PITMAN
Eliot Smith Dance returns with a 10th anniversary staging of PITMAN, a dance piece inspired by the Ashington Group of Pitmen Painters.
About This Event
PITMAN takes ten paintings by the Ashington Group, the Northumberland coal miners who became internationally celebrated artists, and turns them into contemporary dance. This anniversary version marks ten years of the piece and fifteen years of the company, with a cast of six dancers, new design and a score that moves through folk, jazz, swing, classical and brass band music. The show runs for about an hour without an interval. Public performances are on Wednesday 11 November at 1.30pm and 7.30pm; a schools-only performance follows on the Thursday morning.
