About 1st Whittingham Scout Group

1st Whittingham Scout Group is a well-established, family-friendly group serving Whittingham and the surrounding Alnwick countryside. It runs the full range of younger sections, with Beavers for ages five to eight, Cubs for eight to eleven and Scouts for eleven to fifteen, alongside a Seniors section for older young people, all meeting on Thursday evenings during term time. The group follows a traditional scouting programme rooted in the ideals of Lord Baden-Powell, with a strong emphasis on the outdoors, camping and practical skills.

As a rural group it draws young people from Whittingham, Glanton and the villages north-west of Alnwick, and like most Scout groups it depends on volunteer leaders and helpers to keep its sections running. Families interested in a place should get in touch through the group's own website, which carries the current programme and contact details. New adult volunteers are always welcome, and it is usually the number of leaders, rather than space, that decides how many children a section can take.
