About St Michael's Church

St Michael's is the medieval Church of England parish church of Alnwick, standing on Bailiffgate close to Alnwick Castle. With origins reaching back to Saxon times, the church was handsomely rebuilt in the 14th and 15th centuries and is widely regarded as one of the architectural gems of Northumberland, a fine example of the Perpendicular Gothic style. Its prominent position in the historic heart of the town makes it a familiar landmark for residents and visitors alike.

The church holds regular Sunday worship, including a sung Parish Communion with hymns, sermon and organ voluntary at 10:15am on most Sundays, together with a Wednesday morning service, and services are livestreamed via YouTube. It describes its mission as seeking to be an open and inclusive church, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and serving the local community. Alongside weddings and baptisms, it runs monthly Messy Church sessions during the autumn, and its Parish Hall is available for bookings.
