About Lilidorei

Lilidorei opened at The Alnwick Garden on 5 June 2023 and is billed as the largest play structure in the world. Conceived by the Duchess of Northumberland and designed by the Danish play specialists Monstrum after more than a decade in the planning, it is an immersive, story-led village built into a wooded hillside rather than a conventional playground. Its mythology centres on nine clans who celebrate Christmas all year round, ruled by Lord Elfwin from the great central tower, with each clan house given its own soundscapes, lighting and interactive storytelling for children to discover.

The centrepiece is Elfwin Drin, a timber tower standing around 26 metres tall, taller than the Angel of the North, with interconnected bridges, climbing routes and enormous tube slides. Lilidorei suits children from toddlers up to around twelve, is largely outdoors so works in most weather, and is ticketed separately from the main Garden, with a combined ticket available and under-threes admitted free. Everyone aged three and over pays the same rate, prices vary by season, and busy days sell out, so booking online in advance is recommended. During term time the attraction also runs Free Fridays, letting every primary school child in Northumberland and the surrounding area visit free of charge.
